Dara’s love for photography began at ten years of age while living abroad in Germany.  Traveling with her family, camera in hand, she was encouraged to photograph while exploring new cultures.  Dara made her first pinhole camera at the age of fifteen and from there she realized her passion pursuing a degree in Photographic Art and Technology.  It did not take long for Dara to create a thriving photography studio located in Historic Downtown Cary, North Carolina.  Dara Blakeley is known for her award winning photographs and has been published both locally and nationally over the years.  It is very important to Dara and her team to always deliver the highest standard of service to her clients, delivering images truly unique to each client.  Dara’s enthusiasm for life and people brings a fresh perspective to her work.  Armed with an easygoing attitude, her energy is contagious and sets her subjects at ease.  It’s all about capturing the reality of the moment in an artistic form!

Bay 7 is a popular meeting, event and wedding venue space located at the Historic American Tobacco campus in downtown Durham.  Accommodating up to 400 guests, its “urban chic” design includes exposed brick walls, hardwoods floors, steel girders, a balcony area and water feature.  Rental of the facility includes a 12’ by 16’ stage with on-site engineer and facility attendant, oversight of all logistics including insurance coverage, and plenty of free parking for your guests.  Bay 7 is the perfect venue for your wedding and special event needs.

Owner, Susan Ballard’s career started as a high fashion model right out of fashion school.  She was always disappointed when her makeup was done professionally for fashion shows and print work.  Too heavy!  Too made up!  She vowed that one day when it was time for her to step from in front of the camera, to behind it, that she would apply makeup the way it should be applied!  The art of makeup is for it not to look like makeup.  Sure, it is beautiful to enhance ones features with different techniques and colors, but it still should be done with a flawless, and well blended finish!

For the past 20 years Susan has touched the faces of 100′s of celebrities, such as Andy Griffith, Oprah’s beau, Steadman Graham, Anne Graham Lotz, Trading Spaces/Moving up host, Doug Wilson, Governor Mike Easley and other politicians, and the list goes on and on!  Some of Susan’s most favorite celebrities are her Brides.  She loves designing the perfect makeup look for them that they have dreamed of since they were little girls.  She tells them that the goal is to meet in the middle……”I will bring my expertise, and you tell me the look you have been dreaming of, and I will make it happen”.  Her work has been featured in “The Knot” Wedding pages, Weddings Magazine, and weddings Unveiled.
